Whereas our nation's old-growth foresters are suffering from having to log many small,
remote old-growth wilderness areas, totalling a tiny percentage of America's land mass;
whereas for each small old-growth forest they must log, foresters encounter
fierce opposition
from the vast majority of the public, as well as from local laws and ecoterrorists; whereas this opposition means the logging of our nation's last remote bits of nonproductive
landscape is more and more difficult, and employs almost no one; whereas a battle fought on one front is infinitely easier to win than one fought on many
different fronts, especially with a Republican-controlled House and Senate; therefore we, the undersigned, hereby support slating Yellowstone, Yosemite, and other
National Parks for logging of their old-growth timber, as their area is roughly equal to that of the
old-growth forests currently sighted for logging. Any administrative costs can be recouped
from receipts for the new industrial tourism that will result. |
